Sustaining the Gains

A leading think tank knew full well that any meaningful progress on global sustainability issues required U.S.-China cooperation. But it also knew that geopolitical tensions have rendered cooperation next to impossible.    

Strategy & Execution

We tapped into our sustainability expertise and high-level networks to design an urban sustainability program in China. We convened CEOs from leading Chinese and American companies to explore how their two countries could cooperate on advocacy around sustainability, including sharing practical examples, developing case studies and launching cooperative pilot projects.  

Outcome

The CEOs were able to gain an audience with Chinese senior officials to present key findings. This also enabled them to establish an on-going platform by which they could share their companies’ expertise with senior leaders and help shape long-term policy around sustainability.
