Basilinna Launches New Biodiversity and Nature Finance Offering

To Help Companies Anticipate the Rise of a Global Biodiversity Financial and Economic Infrastructure

October 3, 2025

Washington, DC | October 3, 2025 –

Basilinna, a leading international strategic advisory firm, announced the launch of its Biodiversity and Nature Finance Offering to help governments, companies, and NGOs address environmental risks, regulatory demands, and shifting investment trends from climate shocks and biodiversity loss. The practice will also support biodiversity solution providers in accessing growing pools of nature-based capital.

Global wildlife populations have fallen by more than 70% since the 1970s, with over a quarter of species at risk of extinction. This degradation threatens food, water, health, and economic stability, and while it should make biodiversity protection a priority for policymakers and businesses alike, it is still not treated as such. This urgency is reflected in the Convention on Biological Diversity’s global target of protecting 30% of the world’s land and oceans by 2030.

Basilinna’s new practice will help clients:

  • Assess biodiversity risks to supply chains

  • Prepare for regulatory change

  • Measure their nature footprint

  • Channel finance into biodiversity and resilience solutions

  • Identify opportunities to shape the dialogue and engage on leading platforms

It combines Basilinna’s expertise in government relations, communications, and business advisory with global biodiversity and finance leaders, including Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP27 and CEO of Beyond Progress, and Dr. Simon Zadek, CEO of Morphosis and founder of Financing4Nature.

“Nature underpins over half the global economy. Ignoring it is a risk, integrating it is an advantage,” said Deborah Lehr, Chair and CEO of Basilinna. “With this new offering, we help clients mobilize capital and embed biodiversity into investment and operational decisions for a competitive edge”.

Biodiversity is fast becoming an economic and compliance priority, with frameworks like TNFD and global 30x30 goals setting new expectations. “Mobilizing nature finance requires innovative solutions and strong partnerships that bridge public and private efforts,” said Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin. “Only then can we unlock the scale of investment needed to protect ecosystems and build resilience.”
